The Space

Situated on Maui’s spectacular north shore, this fairy-tale hideaway is the ideal honeymoon retreat … far away from tourist crowds, (yet is only a 20 minute trip to the nearest great restaurant or grocery store). It’s so lovely to come “home” at the end of a day … and sometimes, you’ll probably just to stay “home” and relax! Perhaps you’ll “eat in” … or wander down to the top of our towering 300 ft ocean cliffs for sunset … or watch the full moon rise from the ocean as you soak in your hot tub …

Rainbow is a dramatic two story accommodation which has a feeling of privacy and seclusion. Upstairs, you have Cal King bed with six foot skylights overhead for star-gazing – (our stars are very bright here, far away from city lights)… two private balconies, one with gorgeous ocean views and the other over our beautiful pool. Downstairs, there are two small sitting rooms (one with a couch/trundle so if you have an extra little one, we can make space for you) … full bathroom, wet bar (fridge, sink, dishwasher, coffee maker, blender, microwave etc … cooking is done outside under the covered lanai – perfect for light meal prep … and we have lots of ‘plug ins’ – griddle, electric frying pan, plug in hot plate etc) + dining area leading out on to one of several private lanais with soothing waterfall gardens, barbecue, and your own private hot tub. Do be aware, though, that as we’re ‘in the jungle’ you’ll see an occasional gecko, or ant! So don’t let them freak you out! :):):) (Note also: we are a SMOKE FREE property).

From Rainbow Lookout, you can see all the way up the north shore cliffs of Maui to Hana, and then the spectacular views just keep going … over our orchard greenery and all the way up the slopes of Mt Haleakala, our 10,000 ft dormant volcano.

Our location is ideal for exploring the whole island – but you don’t have to stay in a crowded tourist area to do it … 20 mins to Paia or Makawao, 1 3/4 hours to Hana, 75 mins to Lahaina, 45 mins to Kihei, 1 1/2 hrs up to the top of Haleakala etc. Maui is small enough so that you can stay in one place and have the whole island at your fingertips! BUT PLEASE BE AWARE THAT WE FEEL ‘REMOTE’. The last mile of the Hana Highway before you turn off to Door of Faith Road is curvy, and the last third of a mile of our little road can be bumpy/ pot holey (depending on whether we’ve just had rain). This is a location intended for people who want that ‘away from it all’ feeling … so if you’re looking for big-time shopping and night life, this is NOT the place for you. Also note: nearest beach is Ho’okipa, about 20 mins away by car.

Please note: WE HAVE NO TV RECEPTION! But we now have super fast fiberoptic cable, so you can stream Netflix on your TV or laptop.

We don’t do maid service, but we’re happy to provide fresh linens, cleaning supplies etc for you. We also have a guest laundry (free of charge, laundry soap included).

We are LEGAL AND FULLY LICENSED! (Permit # BBPH 2009/0015).

Make sure you reservation is secure – ask your hosts if they are licensed! (And if not, run! fast! Maui County is in the process of enforcing against illegal vacation rentals and we’ve heard from some guests who have lost their bookings at the last minute). Note that taxes are added to the nightly rate and that will all be itemized on your Airbnb bill.

We ask that you SHOWER OFF before taking your hot tub and don’t use any soaps or body products or scents in our hot tub please – doing so will necessitate the draining of the tub, cleaning, a new filter etc and the cost of that (usually about $100) would be deducted from your security deposit. Same thing with sand from the beach!!!
