Abundant Sliding glass doors and windows... read more worked well so you could create just the right breeze at all times. Comfort with a view from just about anywhere in the living spaces. There is a cliff walk for a closer view. This place puts you in touch with nature and will make you want to just hang out. We enjoyed the jacuzzi and the pool area is beautifully tropical. That said the road to hana is right at your feet and a must do for adventure... We loved it and you will too.....
We can't gush enough about this "hidden" oasis - it really is a bit of heaven. If you want to feel like the most spoiled last people on Earth, this... read more is the place for you. Accommodations were homey and comfy (the dining room table which sitting at has you looking out over the ocean is itself a work of art!), facilities fantastic (more below on those), and hosts very warm and welcoming. We encourage you to take the short walk to the cliff’s end to better appreciate the wonderful environs from which Sharyn and Jeff have created a truly special place to stay.

The top floor allows breathtaking 180 degree views of the ocean, palm trees, flowers and lush greenery. Sunrise here is a wonderful experience. It’s a great way to start your day.
A big plus for this location is it’s only 10-15 minutes from the Twin Falls on the Hana Highway. It’s your first major stop on that journey. This is a big asset at the end of a long day when you get to go home while everyone else has to continue driving exhausted to the other side of Maui. I highly recommend this house. More

We stayed in the Haleakala Cottage for 9 nights and it was wonderful! My only concern prior to our stay was that it may be too far away from... read more the towns. We were wrong, it is a short drive to Paia a cute little town with plenty to do. We were able to tour the entire island! Also being right on the Road to Hana we were able to do the drive twice, the first time we made the whole loop.
The treats that Sharyn left for us were delish, specially that BREAD!! Since returning home we have definitely been more cautious of our recyclables, it was a great learning experience for us both!
We cannot wait to return to paradise!!

The star look out exceeded our expectations and the cliff walk is the icing on the cake! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to have an intimate Hawaiian experience!

We took advantage of location proximity exploring east Maui (Hana side) through North Shore, Central Maui and Upcountry while staying at Sharyn’s property. Did I mention the on prem swim... read more pool, hot tub, cliff walk, self pick tropical fruits and kids loving chicken coop! Previously everyone has been talking about seeing a turtle or two. Come here visiting North Shore, we saw few dozens of them sunbathing late afternoon on Ho'okipa Beach! And thanks to Sharyn’s and her staff’s hospitality, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!!!
This was a stunning experience for our family in the Lookout house. Sharyn makes you feel so welcome, like coming home to an old friend, available for every need yet giving you space to just be. The ocean views from the lookout house are heavenly... we gazed upon sun rises, watched nourishing rain showers, and smiled upon multiple rainbows every day from the deck. The pool while shared was beautiful and private, we never saw another guest upon our stay. We enjoyed the private hot tub, the grill and outdoor deck for dinners. The home was colorful, thoughtful, the beds were extremely comfortable. We were able to enjoy walks and yoga in the front, a snooze in the hammock. The flowers and lushness of the property were incredibly lovely. The location was excellent for all of our upcountry adventures and hopping on the road to Hana upon our departure. I have traveled to many places and my boys watched me actually tear up leaving this sacred place. It is extremely special, you really do not want to be anywhere else. More

Prepare to be enchanted the minute you set foot on this lovely, secluded property - and one that happens to be in an incredibly ideal location! My wife and I... read more grabbed the opportunity to book a last-minute, 5-night stay at the Ocean Lookout, and I can easily say it was one of the best travel decisions we've made yet. Just a short drive from the airport, you take a short side road and enter a property lush and full of life - not to mention epic, EPIC views of the north coast on one side, Haleakala on the other. It's your call whether you want to explore the trails on the Road to Hana, roll into Paia for a great meal, or try a beach just across the way. Heck, maybe you'll just stay and enjoy the house's quiet vibes, or that hot tub at the end of your day! Everything feels possible from here, and your hosts are charming and eager to share their recommendations. You see, Maui had been our very first trip off-mainland 12 years earlier, and after a tough experience we'd been bypassing it in favor of the Big Island. But after this recent stay at the Lookout, we got a look at how gorgeous and welcoming Maui truly can be - and I'll say we're back in love with the isle. Thanks Huelo Point - hope to return ASAP!
What a gem!

The views, THE VIEWS!!! Nothing can prepare you for such magnificence. The location is BEYOND magical, with vivid and vibrant 180+ degrees of splendour!!!
Its host Sharyn was ALWAYS responsive, honestly and pristinely friendly; you can quickly tell she loves and enjoys to share the rejuvenating power this place has to offer. She automatically brought a level of comfort to my stay that blended beautifully with the cozy and tropical decoration inside and outside the lookout. Just so much gorgeousness all over!
This is the place to encounter nature, serenity, and the greatest of positive island vibes. Perhaps with your loved ones, or simply with/by yourself, as I did. Honestly, this became a "medicinal" experience to my whole being... and I'll be ready for more.
Mahalo.
Our second visit here. We were here from the day after Christmas till the day after New Years day. We arrived and there were snacks in the fridge; my wife... read more has Celiac (allergen to Gluten) and Sharyn made sure our snacks were gluten free. What a nice welcome. This place is easy to find, even in the dark. The road is a country road, just keep following the instructions on google map. Easy to find. This place looks over the ocean, maybe a 1/4 mile away, the view is beautiful. It is a two story house, lots of windows facing the ocean with a porch on the upper and the lower level. Only two of us, but we rented the entire house. We slept in the second floor bedroom where one can see the moonrise over the ocean and the sunrise over the ocean. The bedroom had a patio door to the porch; although open to the porch, it is really private. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the cooking items one would need. You need to supply your own food. There is a gas grill on the rear covered porch off the kitchen, and there is a large table on that covered porch too. The kitchen has a large beautiful table, one could seat 10 or more people at that table and still have room. The lower floor has a washer and dryer and another full bathroom. There is an outdoor hot tub on the lower level that is very secluded; one feels like they are in the middle of the jungle, well, I guess one would be at this place. We enjoyed the home so much that we stayed there for about 3 days without really going out except for walking about the property and 'neighborhood'. It's a tropical area and at the time we were there the weather would follow a cycle of wind, then rain, then wind, then the sun would come out, then the cycle would start all over again. It was beautiful and warm. When we wanted more sun we went to the other side of the island; don't let this description scare you, this property is on the way to Hana, so it is a tropical environment. It was what we wanted. Sharyn takes care of the tropical bugs in a reasonable 'makes sense' way, Cedar oil in small straws in key places, and a lizard population. It's pretty cool, one might see one or two lizards on the wall in the living room doing their job. They are harmless, we both have lived in areas where lizards are in the house. In short, although this place is secluded in a jungle, no bugs, even on the porch. There is parking for your rental car that is covered. There was a TV with an assortment of movies, but we never used it, no need. Summer would probably be warm, but there is a pool 20 feet from the house. The pool is shared with other guests. If you want a fabulous place in the country away from the tourist side of the island, this is the place. It really doesn't get any better. It was just what we desired. Two couples could easily stay here, or an entire family. It is set up for that with board games to play as well. We'll come back again for a third visit, we're working out the details. For us winter is nicer since we live in the cold Midwest. If you want to live like a local for a week, have peace and quiet and have beautiful scenery in a place secluded in a jungle, this is it. It doesn't get any better. I highly recommend this as a place to stay.
An ideal vacation getaway: beauty everywhere from the exquisite gardens to the many sweet touches inside our cottage; wonderful suggestions and responsiveness from our host; great location - convenient... read more to all Maui has to offer and wonderfully private.
We had a wonderful stay in the lookout house in February 2022! The house is exactly like the pictures, including the amazing 3-sided view of the ocean and Haleakala from... read more the living room. We turned the chairs to face outward and watched the sunrise there every day. The beds are comfortable, kitchen well equipped, hot tub warm & bubbly, and the pool refreshing (though unheated, so a bit cold in winter). The setting is super private - the only times we saw other guests in 10 days were a couple times as we were driving off the property. We loved staying in this hidden corner of Maui, which is beautiful, lush, and not crowded by other people. That said, it is remote (about a half hour to Paia, the nearest town), so if you want night life, easy access to restaurants, etc, this probably isn’t the spot for you. Hosts Sharyn and Jeff were available but generally hands-off unless needed, which we appreciated.
